Proposed group outing to Telegraph Cove
Proposed for the first or second week of September 2020
About a 6 hour drive from Crofton, 3 hours north of Campbell River
Program: Day 1 -Half day whale watching, starting at 12:30. Whale museum visit that evening
Day 2 – Grizzly bear watching – full day starting at 6:30 am, returning around 4:30. We go 60 km into Knights Inlet (1 1/2 hour to get there). At that point we transfer to smaller boats that can get in close to the shore
Accommodation: Based on 12 participants the cost per person for 3 nights at Telegraph Cove would be $200. This price is based on booking two cabins on the board walk area for 6 people each. One queen bed and four singles in each cabin. Kitchenette, fireplace and living room.
Meals: Provide you own breakfast and lunch. Set menu for dinner at local restaurant.
Estimated Cost: Estimated per person based on 2019 prices:
Whale watching $120.00
Grizzly bear trip $360.00
Meals (3 dinners) $100.00
Whale museum with presentation $ 20.00 Total: $900.00
Additional Day Option: Some of BC Nature’s previous groups have stayed four nights and gone up to Alert Bay on the third day. They go over as foot passengers and walk. There is a First Nations Museum built where there once was a residential school, and further along the road there is a cemetery filled with old totem poles.
In order to secure 2019 prices, a deposit must be made by February of 2020

Tickets: On sale at Probus club meetings; September 17, October 15, November 19.

Christmas Party…. December 4, 2018 at Penny’s Pantry
The Christmas Party was well attended and we were treated to an amazing turkey dinner. A big Thank You to Penny’s crew for hosting us.
We were also entertained by Shaun Luttin, a card magician who kept us thrilled with his slight of hand.

Dinner Group August 30, 2018
A beautiful evening was had by one and all at Salt Spring Cheese. An amazing meal that was only outdone by excellent weather and all those who attended.
Probus AGM/Anniversary Celebration July 17th
The AGM was attended by 25 members. The brunch entree was a quiche from Jana’s bakery and sides and desserts were supplied by members present.

Our meeting day is the third Tuesday of each month.

Weekly Bridge Group – A number of club members and their guests meet to play bridge every Thursday upstairs in Branch 92 of the Royal Canadian Legion. We usually have two tables. Newcomers, with any level of experience, are always welcome. In fact if you don’t know how to play bridge, we’ll teach you. So please join us for some stimulating recreation every Thursday.
