Welcome to our Probus Club website.
We are a local branch of an organization with over 4,000 branches world-wide. The name is a contraction of the words professional and business. Our members are typically retired and find value in belonging to a non-sectarian, apolitical, international club renowned for its informality, sociability and for having interesting and informative speakers at our monthly meetings.
In addition to the monthly speaker program, the club has a variety of interest groups, outings and activities including a dinner club, bridge club, annual Christmas party, picnics and trips off island to interesting venues.
If you are retired, nearly retired or just thinking about retirement and live on Salt Spring Island, please consider joining us. Effective September 2017, we will meet monthly on the second Tuesday at the Lion’s Club Hall, 103 Bonnet Ave, Salt Spring. Guests are always welcome.

Our annual objectives:
1.-End the Fiscal Year with a Balanced Budget. This means we don’t want our expenditures to exceed our revenue.
2- Attain and maintain a membership of at least 65 persons. We finished the last fiscal year with 60 members, so this objectives represents a gain of only 8.3% – This shouldn’t be too difficult, right? But, Getting members to renew by paying their dues at the beginning of each year usually takes about three or four months to achieve. As of today, we have 39 paid memberships for this fiscal year so we’re only 60% of the way there.
3- Continuously Improve the Website and develop methods for driving traffic to it. We’re fortunate in that we now have on board a team member dedicated to this task.
4- Continue to promote and maintain brand awareness. We wish to do this not only through advertising but through the website, through broadcasting our speaker lineup, and through word of mouth.
Taken together, these four objectives mean keeping the club viable and financially healthy, and the four objectives all overlap in seeking to accomplish this. We will need the help of you, the membership, to achieve these things and keep our club healthy. So please talk us up with your neighbours, friends and former members.
